Stacey and Bo Porter SELF Foundation in partnership with Zaxby’s honored the TSU first responders

On Tuesday, 9/7 the Stacey and Bo Porter SELF Foundation in partnership with Zaxby’s honored the TSU first responders for their courageous efforts during Hurricane Harvey

Houston, TX (PRUnderground) September 11th, 2017

On Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 the Stacey and Bo Porter SELF Foundation in partnership with Zaxby Houston LLC honored TSU’s first responders for their exemplary efforts during Hurricane Harvey. The TSU first responders and staff went above and beyond to ensure the safety of the students as well as keeping their parents informed of their status to relieve some of their worries. The ceremony opened with words from TSU police department Chief Mary Young, and would be followed by words from TSU president Austin Lane, Zaxby’s Houston LLC owner Shawn Taylor, City Council Member At-Large-Position 4 Amanda Edwards & HISD Board of Trustees Rhonda Skillern-Jones.

During the ceremony the Stacey and Bo Porter SELF Foundation donated $5,000 to the TSU Cares Fund, and Zaxby Houston LLC Shawn Taylor donated $2,500. The TSU Cares fund was created to provide financial assistance to faculty and students impacted by the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey. The first responders were given awards for their selfless acts, and we will forever be indebted to them. In the words of Bo Porter “Yes, our city needs to be repaired and rebuilt, but this is an opportunity for us to say thank you for your service in protecting our greatest asset, which is our children.”
