Ms. Jefferson is no stranger to hard-work and entrepreneurship; she is the daughter of Civil Rights Activist George M. Jefferson and currently operates a behavioral health organization with locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, as well as a non-profit organization with a scholarship fund in her Father’s memory. On Tuesday, 9/7 the Stacey and Bo Porter SELF Foundation in partnership with Zaxby’s honored the TSU first responders for their courageous efforts during Hurricane Harvey

On Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 the Stacey and Bo Porter SELF Foundation in partnership with Zaxby Houston LLC honored TSU’s first responders for their exemplary efforts during Hurricane Harvey. The TSU first responders and staff went above and beyond to ensure the safety of the students as well as keeping their parents informed of their status to relieve some of their worries. The ceremony opened with words from TSU police department Chief Mary Young, and would be followed by words from TSU president Austin Lane, Zaxby’s Houston LLC owner Shawn Taylor, City Council Member At-Large-Position 4 Amanda Edwards & HISD Board of Trustees Rhonda Skillern-Jones.

The Stacey and Bo Porter SELF Cares Hurricane Harvey Relief and Recovery fund was created to provide relief to survivors devastated by the storm. The damage from Hurricane Harvey hit Houston and surrounding areas extremely hard. The recovery and relief efforts from Hurricane Harvey will be a lengthy ongoing process that requires all community leaders to pitch in and provide support to those in need. During this time it is important that the city come together to help one another pick up the pieces from this catastrophic natural disaster.
